Review: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle shares his personal experience in “The Power of Now“. He was 29 when he went through a period of deep depression and underwent an internal transformation that transformed his life. Tolle was able to overcome his inner turmoil and return to the top of his life.

Eckhart Tolle has lived this spiritual awakening for thirty years. He has spent the last 30 years reflecting on his experience and trying to identify the key factors that brought him there. This is how “The Power of Now”, a self-help guide, was created. It is a collection of questions that answers with the goal of showing, in clear and simple language, that “the way and truth and the light are within you”.

Tolle tried to present “the timeless spiritual teaching which is the essence all religions” in a contemporary context. He wanted to get to the core of what Tolle calls our Being, which he defines as the One Life, eternal, ever present, and accessible to us now. It is about our deepest being, our true nature. Tolle explains that understanding it is futile and that to get to it, it is necessary to focus only on the Now. This is the only way to fully be aware of your true nature.

Marc Allen, the author of the preface, believes that “The Power of Now” can be described as a guide and a complete meditation program. He also states that each reread brings greater depth and meaning. Eckhart Tolle attempts to show that we can achieve enlightenment, and reduce the suffering, pain and anxiety that our current way of living causes. According to Eckhart Tolle, the solution is to realize that our thoughts are what cause our unhappiness. We create pain within ourselves.

The teachings of “The Power of Now” have been around as long as human spirituality. They are embedded in all religions, but Tolle has updated them to make them more accessible to the most people. The results have been undoubtedly positive. “The power of Now”, has many readers, and many of them claim that it has illuminated their lives.
